Good day Everyone!
So.... Sunday morning, AHHhhhhh First day in 3 weeks to have a day "off", So I pour a cup O' joe and stroll over to the tank to enjoy life. On Sat. eve. we went to my new favorite fish store near Buffalo, NY (The Fish Place, North Tonawanda Very nice) We bought 2 Honey Gouramis, and 4 Blue Mickey Mouse Platies, some Java Moss, and some sea grass. Oh Yeah ... a tbspoon of Brine shrimp.
I start by noticing the 300 or so brine shrimp have been sucked out of my Mini floating tank. I guess they are smaller than I thought. OOps. Then I can only find 2 of 3 of my baby mollie survivors. uh-oh.
after an hour I give up and try to get some stuff around the house done..... But I keep ending up in front of the tank looking. So I do my gravel vac, change about 15% of the water, Everything is nice and clean. Very carful to check the water temp, and did a water test on the replacment water, everything is good.
Then I see a dwarf gourami Stuck inside a small hole in this decoration.

So my wife tries to push him out while I hold the thing at the waters surface. Not gonna happen, 1 try proves that he is stuck!
Out comes the leatherman pliers, and I crack the thing piece by tiny piece until he becomes free again.
Only a small bit of damage to his dorsal fin. AH HA, now I know how he got that same injury a few moths ago when he was smaller!
Crazy, though, I was watching him Play just a few moments befofe I saw him trying to fight his way out of this small hole.
Then I have to spray our cat with a squirt gun (teaching Aid) to get him off the cover! Bad Kitty!
Now back to work for a few more hours, with about 7 quick stops looking for #3 10mm baby mollie.
End of the day comes, almost time for bed, And I see a problem. A powder Blue dwarf gourami, Not swimming, He is gone, No color left in him, Poor guy.
But he was a Large dwarf, about 3.5inches long 1.75 inches tall without adding the fins. so I hope he passed from old age.
He has been looking like an older guy for the last month.
Then I find a Female guppy, with Popeye, being sexually harrassed by 2 males, so now she is in Quarantine.
Then The baby Mollie finally swims out of the Java moss to say hello, then turns around and goes back to hiding.
Well It was an eventful day!
I hope things calm down in there for a while.
Well thanks for letting me rant.
Have a great day!
Adam
