Would You Eat Your Fish?

This wonderful poll was inspired by the 'would you drink your tank water' poll.

Same idea- you were accidentaly locked in a room with no food, but there is the fish tank. No one will be around to let you out for quite awhile. You would starve if you did not eat, but there are the fish... do you eat them? If so, who goes first?

I know this is a gross topic, and its probably wrong for me to post this because I'm a vegetarian anyway, but I want to know!

Well, you can go quite a while without eating, I would wait as long as possible and then have to get some of the fish to spawn so I can eat the eggs . I guess, idk, weird question!

I don't know, honestly. I guess it depends on the fish.

It would make you very unwell but if you had to I reckon I would start with the fish food first if that was in your room... but to survive I would think I would but... it aint gonna happen of course...but apparently my Rendahls catfishes are good table fish... Lol

Oh, wow, someone actually noticed me here? Haha, thanks. Too bad the chat dosen't work for me any more...

Seeing as it freaks me out to even touch the fish, I guess I would have to starve, or gnaw on the couch or something. I don't think I could eat them. heck, I don't think I could eat the food... it smells so bad!

depends on what kind of fish. if its just like little neon tetra, than no because thats not going to let me live for another day. if it were a big fish like an arowana or something i probably would. its a weird question because you will never be locked up in your fish room, and if you actually did, you would probably find a way out like bustin a window or breaking a hole in the wall or something

You're probably right. By the time I was out of it enough to want to eat the fish, I probably wouldn't be able to catch them anyway because they are fast little things and I would be crazed from hunger (= not too good with the net!).


Yes, this would never happen, but neither would the water drinking situation, but its still something amusing to think about and see other peoples comments and opinions.

How do you filet a tetra? I wouldn't eat mine because, with the fish I have, if I ate them all I still wouldn't have a good meal. I'd spend more energy netting them that I would get back from eating them.

Dorkhedeos has said it for me. As I specialise in titchy fish, there wouldn't be much point. I'd be better off eating the kids

I'd eat my plants first. I have alot, so I'm sure I could survive for quite a while without having to touch my fish!

I'd eat the spiders that live under all my tanks and the crickets running around the room before resorting to eating my fish, even then i might consider eating my own arm than some of the fish, i've waited too long to find them and paid too much for them just to eat them even if it was a matter of life or death.
