Hi all

I've got a bio orb cycling away (fish less) which I was going to setup with red cherry shrimp,
Alls going good but the more I look at it I don't like the orbs rocks. Can I remove the filter sponge and cover the bottom with sand? But keep the clear tupe and air line going and then fit a eheim aquaball.

I was also going to cut the bio orbs sponge filter up and add it to the eheim aquaball sponge to help kick start the new filter

hey,

sorry to be the bearer of bad news buddy but the ceramic media (rocks) cannot be removed as they aid in the filtration process...

also i would suggest not messing about with the filtration set up in any way..

if you really dont like the biorb's media may i suggest placing some rocks over the top of it?
provided you dont stop the water from flowing through the media

Thanks for the reply
I know the ceramic media (rocks) does the filtration but I will bypassing that system and fitting an internal filter?

i suppose it would work... however the ceramic media used in biorb creates benificial bacteria which would make it easier to look after.

its up to you to see how it works as it sounds like it could... but maybe not as effective as the designed system already in place...

not sure if any of this has helped...
