There's a lot of different kinds of shrimp, some are safe, some are usually safe and some are never safe.
It also depends on what size of fry you are talking about.

So what type of shrimp and what size of fry?

You mean amano shrimp? Unfortunately, lots of different species can be sold as 'algae eating shrimp', usually its the amano shrimp but be sure to check :good:.

Amano shrimp fall under the "usually safe" category, I've raised triops with them in the tank no problem, and lots of people have kept them in tanks with baby shrimp and fish fry with success.

But you do hear the odd story, and I've even spoken to someone who had a cherry spot rasbora eaten by an adult amano shrimp .

If it's fry tank, leave the shrimp out :good:.

There are rare reports of clawed shrimp like ghost shrimp snagging onto the tail of a small fish or fry. The safest shrimp are filter feeders like bamboo shrimp, but of course are more difficult to care for.
