Would Like To Change Things Around...

Hey,

I have a 40 gallon community tank with a few too many fish in it...

But I am considering changing it all around inside, for one I need to build a bigger cave for the plec, and give more spawning areas of confidence for the angels. But still leave enough coverage for the smaller fish.

I just have a few queries about how to go about 'the big change'...

Is it alright to leave the fish in there, do it bit by bit and try not 2 scare them too much?

Whats the best way to create a plec 'den'?

and, will boiling garden rocks be enough to clean them before adding to the tank?

I would like to possibly start tonight, so any quick suggestions would be gratefully appreciated, cheers.

make sure the rocks are safe btw and don't effect water chemistry.

i've re-arranged around my fish it's fine, just be v careful they aren't hiding anywhere and get squished by you putting down rocks or anything like that. I wouldn't worry about doing it too gradually, decide what you want to do, get everything ready, plan how your taking things in/out then just do it all in 1 go, decent planning and preparation should mean your not tampering with the tank for too long so they won't get too stressed
