My Ranchu has developed a little sort of hole in his head over the past few weeks.
I'm not sure whether he banged it but it seems to be getting a little bigger as time goes on.
Anyone have an idea what it is and whether he'll be ok as he's my little diamond and don't want to lose him.View attachment 70316View attachment 70317

Aww, he's a cutie, isn't he?! Look at that little face!

It looks like a scrape that's got infected; my oscar gets the same sometimes when he's been throwing the bogwood around.

You could treat in one of two ways; the more drastic way would be a course of Myxazin, the simplest way (and I know some people will freak at this suggestion) is to do a 50% water change with straight tap water, no dechlorinator.

The level of chlorine you get in the tank doing that is often enough to kill off small bacterial infections, and at that level will not harm your fish, or your filter bacteria. I usually add the dechlor after a couple of hours, and repeat the day after next (so you water change one day, leave it the next, then do it again), if the fish hasn't improved significantly.

Thank you fluttermouth!
He's my little buddy! He's got a look of one of those Japanese manga cartoon type thingies!!
And the shadow over both eyes makes him look angry all of the time!!
So you don't think it's hole in the head?
Just a bit, well, very worried that it is and i don't want to lose him

I don't think it is HITH, although it can't be ruled out; I would expect to be seeing more holes, if it was that.
