I currently seem to have some floating objects in my tank. I only see one every few hours and they aren't 'taking over' my tank.

The dont seem to be in or on the gravel but floating in the water. They look like these worms as shown in the picture:

However these id say are probably thinner. It doesn't look like its plant roots floating around the tank as they seem to move quite a bit (wriggle).

Just wondering if anyone knows what they are. They arent on my glass etc.

The tank undergo's weekley 20% water changes and also a weekley gravel vac and i see very little debry in my tank at all.

Ive recently in the past week added two Japonica Shrimps could they have come in with these??

Thanks for any assistance.

Darren

I think i know what your talking about, i have/had them too. skinny little whitish worms, they float around and are really wiggly. If they didn't wiggle so much i doubt i would have noticed them. I think its a result of over feeding maybe, but they don't do much harm. I'd be worried if they were stuck to my fish which they aren't. Also, my tetras love eating them!

Well its not due to overfeeding. My fish are feed once a day and i dont feed them one day every week generally and the food is gone in a matter of seconds so i can rule that one out and like i said i do my water change and gravel vac every week.

I noticed them when changing my water over on this weeks waster change so i have tested for amonia but tested 0 but i assume this could be due to the newley added water. I will test it again tommorow to see if it has 'spiked' then.

Thanks for the help.

Planaria worms.. not harmful, but don't look great.

They can appear when your gravel isn't being cleaned enough.. I have them in a couple of my tanks..

Adding salt, or siphoning the gravel well a few days in a row should get rid of them.
