hi, i have a 60 gallon tank and am planning to have the following fish in it but im not sure if they will go well together (i heard some gouramis could be aggressive)

2 clown loahces
1 bristle nose catfish
7 neon tetras
2 neon blue dwarf gouramis
2 flame gouramis

if there is any problem with the previous fish being tank mates please tell me ( i still have time to change my plans. i havent started cycling yet)

Thanks :D

Great setup! I would get more fish infact... :D

But I have read on here that clown loaches GROW HUGE! up too a foot long....So I am not sure about the 2 loaches...But everything else sounds fine.! :)

Most Gouramis are very peacefull and are a great community fish for your tank! all of mine are and many people on here are too! Great fish with wonderfull attitudes and personalities

:D Oh ok then.....You can get your clown loaches. :)

I dont know much about them and read they grow huge...but thats K.!

my blue gourami wont leave my opaline gourami alone! why did the bastid at teh store have to drop the other opaline i was going to get on the floor :grr: .. i might have to go back and check on it and see if its still alive and if it is im going to switch the blue with the opaline baring its still alive

thanks guys yeah i was planning on getting just 1 clown loach but i've heard they like companions so i thought i could afford one more

I think that many gouramis will be just fine in a 60, make sure you have lots of plants, Floating if possible.

I think clowns will be fine in a 60 for a few years, you'll eventually want to rehouse them but they're really slow growers :)
2 isn't that great though, one will more than likely pick on the other,IME anyway. Maybe you can spring for 3? The more the merrier :D

I'd go for 3 clown loaches as they like being in a trio from what i've read and from what i've seen of my 3.

And maybe you should think about going for either a bigger school of neons (10?) or a different type of tetra - xray, lemon, elegant or maybe black widow?

Ben

do you think that 1 clown loach would be okay, because i'm not sure if ill have the funds to perchase a new BIGGER tank than my 60 gallon  i mean i might be able to do something but i dont know and i dont want to have over grown fish. -_-

They do grow very slowly...But there very social fish and like each others company very playfull fish. Well If you Just want to get 1 I think Its OK But it wont be as happy as it should be I would think :/ not very sure..... Mabye you can get something else? Maybe cories or small types of plecos? :dunno:

XxMrBonesXx...You most likely have 2 males and there just trying to find there territory Things should calm down. 2 of my gouramis used to do that when I first got them but in a about a week they split the tank to them selves and stoped chasing each other. The wierd thing is when I brought home 2 more gouramis the 2 males had no problems with them and they had no problem with each other.

If you want you can go back in get the gourami you want and see of they get along or not. (If it is a female theres a better chance they will get along).

HTH :)

The dwarf gourami would be better in pairs (1 male, 1 female). Having 4 males in one tank may cuase them to become aggresive and territorial toward each other and any fish that ventures too close to them.

You can sex dwarf gourami quite easily, The males will have the bright colours and the female are a dull brown colour

HTH

since it might not be the greatest idea to get clown loaches do you think i would be able to keep some weather (dojo) loaches in with the other fish instead of the clowns?

I think Weather loaches are better on there own or in small groups although they can still grow up to 10cm.

How about looking into getting a group of 3 dwarf chain loaches?
