I have noticed some lovely angel babies in my LFS. My tank is still cycling, but was wondering if they would be ok in my community tank? They would be sharing it with a pair of Bristlenose plecos, corydoras, platys, neons (maybe a problem) and possibly some rainbow fish, either Boseman, or Praecox.

I have heard if they are introduced as babies they may not bother the neons? What about shrimp? No no or ok?

I was told not mix them with Neons or Shrimp. Neons are there natural food in the wild..... Thats why i havent got any Angels.

Hope that helps

I have two Angels in my community aquarium and they're doing great. I have some Praecox rainbows and corys with them too. The only problem I see is the size of the neons. You don't seem to have any real fin nippers in their either. If you get the Angels small and the Neons have time to grow I think you should be okay. I released my baby Guppy a while ago and it was smaller than most Neons and the Angels didn't bother it at all. My Angels are now the centre of my tank and 'stand' there all day long showing off their immaculate finnage. I'd go for it. :good:

I would agree except for the shrimp. Make sure there is plenty of hiding spacs for them and make sure they are introduced before the Angels. Also you need to make sure that the Neons are relatively large Neons and the Angels are very young, adding the Neons first. If you do this I dont think you should have any problems.

The baby Angels will not see the neons as food but as they grow they will look like food.
Also Angels get pretty big so plan on moving them to a tank of suitable size as they grow.

No, not at all. How high is the tank though as it should really be at least 15-18". As the Angels grow it is very doubtful they will be able to eat a fully grown Neon in one and so long as they are being well fed throughout their lives the Neons will not be seen as food.

its if two of them pair off you should worry, probably kill most of the other fish  but i presonally would keep them with neons, i saw mine eat a near 3" neon and the angel was about 10", it wasn't a pretty sight

it must of been close to that size we'd had it at least 6 years, at least 2.5"

it was a big eggy female as well

Neons are an angels natural prey but the don't always eat them, just depends on the angel and the size comparison.
