bad news for all regular users of wildwoods

Wildwoods Water Gardens Limited (in administrative receivership)
On 5 December 2007 the company entered administrative receivership.

Wildwoods will continue trading as normal.

what will you do if they close, where will you go for your oddballs and plecs? :dunno:

Lets just hope they keep on trading...as they've always got some great fish in, especially plecs.

Good ha ha ha ha ha couldnt happen to a nicer bunch of people.

yeah whatever...

Dont yeah whatever me wildwoods is crap has a good rep because PFK bigs it up in its mag whoopee. Yes they can get in different fish but so can many other place for example, Wholesale tropicals, Pier aquatics, Wharf and most decent maidenhead stores can get you what you want. Wildwoods staff dont have much knowledge there is only 2 people in the fish room that I would class as being "knowledgable" the other aint. There overly priced on pretty much all there fish and they have no aftersales care so good hope they shut them down and someone else buys it up and turns it round the only thing worth going to that shop for is rivershrimp.

I think its a great shop, one of the best in London. I'm surprised by this news. They always have live food.

I've never had anything but great service from Wildwoods and their prices are much lower than i have been quoted by Wharf for the same fish, as for MA you need look no further for being over priced and their typical selection of fish is crap, and i'm yet to come across a branch that will special order fish for you, unless you only want to keep fish from Asian fish farms/wholesalers. There may be other shops in the country that get decent stock in but they all seem to be up in the north of the country so once you start adding petrol costs onto the price of exotics it makes the fish VERY expensive. Wholesale tropicals gets the odd thing in but seem to mainly cater for the tiddler keeping side of the hobby :(

It will be a real shame if Wildwoods closes, and to be honest would probably be the end of fish keeping for me within a couple of years with no easy local access to rare and unusual fish :(

Wholesale Tropicals in Bethnal Green will try and find anything you ask them to and they deliver ;)

I think it's always a shame to hear about LFS closing down...yet the likes of P@H who have some god-awful set ups etc carry on regardless :(

NEVER use pets at home! I went there to "test" their knolwedge once. Got told that a Cobalt Blue Crayfish would be perfectly fine in an 80 litre tank with a breeding pair of Kribensis, a bulldog plec, 4 black skirt tetras and a harlequin! Hmm... Methinks NOT!

damn, i as thinking about using them for my Syno and Delhezi after Xmas :(

Its a Shame when a company closes. Have heard lots of nice things about wildwoods and there are some Wildwoods employees on this board too. Hope they are found work elsewhere.

Its getting bad in Coventry Now. This year has seen 3 LFS' close down without notice, Open one week then closed the next. 2 LFS' in Nuneaton have also closed down.
I only have 1 LFS that is worth visiting in Cov with a good selection and has oddballs and is able to order in fish for you, and all the rest are Out of Town. And they are hiking there prices up now as they have no competition left.

Honestly, I don't know what it is about Wildwoods, but all my fish from there die. Use Amwell Aquatics in Epping, they are much better, their fish last forever!

I'm really lucky, I have four within 15 mins drive of me. Each one good for different things. One is more marine-biased, and expensive. One is tropical-biased, no marine and a little coldwater, and expensive. One is pretty good for anything but has really unusual stuff in a lot of the time, not just aquatic stuff either, but has no marine stuff. And its not too expensive! The last one is pants for everything as it's only small, but the staff are friendly, helpful and the girl who works there is uber-hot!

Thats another over priced shop at the moment they have zebra plces in a £446 each makes me laugh they also have yellow sevs in and they have called them european bred severum and want £80 lol then there is there arowanas they have a blue base xback by the desk they thinks its the only one in the uk and they want 3900 for it well I know someone with 6 in a com and can get them for 1500. Back on to wildwoods I know yourself Dean have a good repour with them but I think that the shop staff are arogant and rude especially the people who work up the top with the tanks and dont worry ive said all this to them when I had a run in with them. As for there fish house staff 2 of them know what there talking about the others I wouldnt give the time of day to and they all think there high and mighty the only one I had respect for is now a diver at the london aquarium. I know yes they do get in specialist fish but you can get them elsewhere MA in St Albans and Enfiled both get a good stock I know not all the cats that wildwoods can get but there are other sources. A price example in wildwoods at the minute P.motoro pups £245 each are they having a laugh D.microlepsis 2-3" £50 I can get these for £13 each when wholesale have them in.
