So does anyone know why my gouramis keep sneaking up to the surface for a quick gulp of air before swimming around blowing little bubbles out of their mouths?

I've seem them do it a few times since I've had them (Thursday). Water parameters and O2 are fine.

Gourami are labyrinth fish which means they take oxygen directly from the surface of the water. They don't do it as much as bettas but its' normal. If they are doing it a lot you should add an air pump. And the bubbles coming out are just like if you were in the water and let some air out of your mouth or nose.

Thanks. I have an airstone in already but it's reassuring to know there's a reason for them doing it. I've only seen them do it a few times but I'll keep my eye out for it.
