Hi guys.
My new tank had silicone inside it before i got it and the previous owner used white spirit to clean it off.
The tank now stinks of it.
It has been left for nearly a week and rinsed out twice. Will fish still die if i put them in and if so how would i stop this. Any ideas?

Some in there now. Thanks thouh. Better than everyone elses opinion

I think soaking and replacing the water frequently is your only option.

How often you think? And just keep going untill the smell goes? Aparently he used 5 tablespoons of white spirit. Would the small amount of residue diluted with 200l of water still make fishies go belly up?

I'd change the water twice a day; more if you can. Carry on until the smell has been gone for at least a couple of days.

White spirit is highly toxic to fish; even the slightest trace will kill them. The previous owner should have scraped the silicone off really, or used methylated spirit, which is much more easily diluted away.
