Hi,

I have a white cotton like fungus on a few of my fish. More so on my 2 clown loaches. The fish look very shaky, for lack of a better word. I did think it was white spot which I then treated them for but upon closer inspection it looks like cotton strands. I have moved one loach into a seperate tank and after jsut a few hours he is looking better.

Internet searches have not provided me with good enough to go on to treat this. Could someone please advise me of what this is and the best treatment? Only thing I can think of using is anti-fungus stuff. In the meantime I am going to do a big water change and clean all the decor in the tank.

Cheers

Size of tank in gallons or litres,.
How nany fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Where are the strands of white cotton as it can be columnaris.
Whitespot which clown loaches are prone to can look like the fish has been sprinkled in salt.

120L
Stats are normal
Clown Loach died in the other tank yesterday:( Had him over a year too:(
Currently:
1 flying fox (white like fluff on his face today but other than that is his normal self)
1 Red Tail Shark
1 Female Guppy (white fluff on fins looking really ill)
2 Zebras
3 Mollies
3 Plecs (young only about 4cm long)
3 Platys (Curiously only one has the white fluff on it, and generally appears to be acting normal)

Definately not white spot, I;ve had that a few times and always caught it early with no deathly results. This is like white fluffy cotton on the fish.

Hi Apolloefc, have the same problem myself, see other thread about Opaline Gourami.

Melafix was suggested to me, but couldnt find any, so using pimafix. Maybe you could find some melafix and try with that?

Good luck.

Myxazin and pimafix.

Cheers for the help. Currently getting treated now. Think its too late for the guppy its in a bad way but hopefully not too late for my flying fox. After this disasterous fun of deaths I've had he is my oldest fish. I'd be extra gutted if he died.

R.I.P.
Good luck.
