White Cloud Minnow Spawning

I have some white cloud minnow in a small comunity tank in with some platies. I noticed that one of the platies had dropped so i searched the tank an collected all the remaining fry up into a breeding trap. While i was looking for fry i found some eggs from the minnow on one of the plants. Not wanting for them to be eaten by the platies i cut a small section of the plant with eggs on and also placed that in the breeding trap.

It's now been over 48 hours since i found the eggs and non of them have hatched. I'm starting to wonder wether they ever will, anyone know how long white cloud minnow eggs usually take to hatch. Also, was it wrong to put the eggs into the breeding trap with the platy fry?

I had some gold white clouds spawn a few years ago. As they are just a different colour of the same species, they breed the same way. The eggs hatched in about 48 hours, but they were scattered over the bottom of the tank not on a plant. I used a bare bottom tank to spawn them in so I could find the eggs easily. The parents are reputed not to eat eggs or fry but I took no chances and removed the eggs, they hatched OK in a breeding net. Are they and the platties the only fish in the tank?

Hi and thanks for the replys. Yeh, just them and the platies. I knew they were eggs scatteres and did find it strange myself that the eggs were in one of the plants. But obviously they havent come from the plateis. I think it's been around 60hrs since i found the eggs so i dont hold much hope now. I'll post what happens(if anything) anyway
