Whiptail

In one of the shops I go to they nearly always have a fish that is simply labelled as 'Whiptail'. They are quite small and generally kept in the tank with Platys I believe. I was just wondering if anyone knew much about them and could give me any information? The man in the shop said they grow to about 6" I think.

If it's a whip-tailed Catfish, then your actually looking around 9-10", I have one and they seem to more closely resemble a pleco than a catfish lol. Great fish, very calm and friendly.

Does it look like a plec / catfish at all?
The Hemiloricaria parva is often known as whiptail

Yes I think it is like that, it certainly resembles that photograph. Does anyone know about their personalities (for a community maybe?) or their requirements?
