i need help deciding wat to get for mi tank. which is easier to take care of, a fish or a turtle? if i were to choose a turtle as a pet, can they get amonia too for not cycling mi water first? n which species are the are the smallest? i have a 55 gallon tank if anyone is wondering. n e opions are really appreciated.

I can't really help much as my terrestial experiences are few and far between but if I remember correctly I had a hard time trying to keep my tank clean when I was a kid and had a turtle. It could definately be because I didn't know anything about them tho so don't read too much into that.

I would think it would come down more to personal preference. I think both fish and turtles (or anything for that matter) would be hard to keep if you didn't enjoy it. :)

If you enjoy your hobby then it's a fun hobby but if you don't enjoy it...then it becomes work after the novelty of the initial beginning of having them is over in a couple months and the "chore" of doing what's best for the pet is usually neglected. (not saying that you would tho, so please don't take it like that. I'm just generalizing here.)

Sorry I couldn't help more but fish and turtles live for many years in some circumstances so it's best you let us know what you are interested in and what excites you and then we can help you from there. :)

i dont suggest getting a turtle as i have one now that's really big. it bites and eats ALOT! i would suggest u get fish instead

What i can remember about keeping tutles as a child.....was they produce alot of waste.....my parents were forever cleaning them.....stick with fish

You can also get salmonella off turtles, plus a lot of species of turtle are actually endangered and wildlife organisations are trying to stop people keeping them as pets.
