In a few days I plan to clone my 105 gallon tank with filter media from my brothers tank, my question is, which fish, an oscar or convict, would be a better fish to put in after I clone it? I'm guessing a convict because they are more hardy, but both would be small.

I cloned a tank a while back on a much smaller scale but it may be useful here. It was a 15 gal tank and I added a pair of Shell Dwellers (Neolamprologus multifasciatus) It's a small tank but these fish are tiny. The male is maybe 2" and the female is half that. I was concerned about how cloning the tank would go and tested twice a day for a week and once a day for a week after that. I didn't see even a trace of ammonia or nitrite.

See what others have to say but I thought I would toss my experience in.

Cool, I've had two filters running in my brothers tank for a few weeks now to give myself some extra media to use, but as of now I'm leaning toward to convict.

I have cloned many tanks, and in my opinion it wouldn't make alot of difference which fish you put in,as I believe either would be fine.

Would both be alright? Especially since the tank is so large, and the filter should be able to catch up before the ammonia can show?

Can I just ask why you are only going to put 1 fish in the tank once cloned?

Actually, I'm not...click on my profile, I'm putting in an oscar, convict, firemouth, electric blue jd, and some sort of catfish, I haven't decided yet.

Why not put the oscar and convict in together then?

I am just concerned that even if I do put both in at the same time, it won't be enough to cope with both of the fish initially.

Thats the whole point of cloning a tank,in my opinion. If they are both small, they should both be fine.
