Where do I look for my fry??

I have a 20 g us tank and my platy just gave birth.. or at least i think she did
One night she is clearly pregnant right about to burst but when i woke up in the morning she was nearly back to normal. I didnt put her in my breeder until too late, but now i can't find any of my fry
I realize that soem could have been eaten but could they all be gone?
help me out here

I was gonna post exactly the same thing... Unfortunately, my new tank wasnt ready for fish and one of my swordtails was about to pop any min.. didnt do nothing in hope that the new tank will mature but she must have dropped last night.. been watching her all day (yes, I may be sad; nothing to do wen u are ill)...

anyway, cant find nothing. she was defiantely preg but now she is back to normal.. now she has more of a pink spot then black gravid spot she did have yesteday.. im assuming all fries are gone as i cant see any

i think same has happened with urs.

my new tank wanst ready for her yet either, maybe i'll find some fry sooner or later, she may also have aported pregancy causea stress i moved her in and out of a net breeder once because i realized that she might not be ready yet

checked behind plants and filter housing they are very small so they can sneak into any small space.

i usually find mine behind the filter housing but occasionally in the floating plants, just waiting their to be eaten by there parents!!!!

i had unexpected arrival of new babies (platies) this morning i have found 6 so far but more keep popping up here and there.

p.s also have 2 very preggie swordtails ready to bust anytime. so i'm going to be busy feeding the little cuties.

angels are really good at hunting down newborn fish - so are the others but angels are really expert baby hunters - they think you've put them in the tank for them

platty wouldn't have much frys but i'm guessing most are eatin up and if you're lucky, some are still under the gravel or behind plants hiding.

one more thing, they might have been sucked into the filter. if that's the case, there might be some alive.

try looking into the stems and just under all the leaves of your plants they love to just blend in, and it's very hard to find them in there!! any shady place they love to be in as well.
and if any or all died there will be more in a month at the same time they did this month. sorry to hear that they are so cute......

I'd poke at your rocks a little....When my molly gave birth all the fry went and squeezed themselves way down in the rocks and very few survived. I couldn't believe some of the small spaces some of them were in.

My platy fry always went into the gravel. You might try looking there.

yeah fry do get chased in between the gravel.
Frys natural defense is that they can hide in small places, try looking between gravel which is against the glass, Fry are known for going between gravel, and getting stuck
Otherwise, yes they have alll been eaten.

go with what others have said, check your filter, look REAL close at plants and in the gravel (they'll be the same size or smaller than most of the bits). i found mine, the lowly survivor tucked up against a decorative cave piece (its was so small and transparent that all i saw were two tiny black specks moving about, upon closer inspection i discovered it was a baby)
