I see I am not the only one that has wildlife stopping by from time to time. Glad to see you took advantage of the situation and snapped a couple of pictures!

Man I see them all the time, although usually I go looking for them, If I wanted to I could easily find about 3-5 of them in half an hour, I actually kept one for about 2 weeks until my mom found out :X

That species that you found there is most probably a Plains Garter snake, or a very spotted looking Eastern Garter Snake.

Where do you live ridewake210?

oh wow.

yea our property use to be heavy vegitaion, brush, trees all that stuff. cleared it out on our own. its like an acre and 1/2, split it with my grandpa. use to see more of these lil fellers like 5 or 6 years ago when we were still pretty new around here. i mean, they're are plenty of places tohide and for them to live around here still. this is the 2nd one i've seen in about a month and 1/2. and this is the most i've seen in such a short amount of time in about 4 or 5 years. so they're not very common around here anymore.

im located in Central Illinois. home of the fighting illini. University of Illinois is located here.

Oh okay, Illinois, I will tell you what kind of garter snake it is tommorow, if you posted this 1 month ago I could have told you right away!

Ah nevermind, it is either Plains Garter of Common Garter, that is for sure...

The one that I brought home looked a lot like the one you found....They both have a more "spotty" appearance than other garter snakes.

gotcha, i can never remember what the ones look like in the past. only remember what they were.
