I religiously mess up my fish tanks, my boyfriend who I met at a Aquarium shop  pretty much just rolls his eyes and says  if I ever ask him what to put in my tank......I nearly always over stock. :X

Any how he has suggested I get a fluval 205 for the tank, am using gravel as Substrate, and a plant fertiliser by JBL can't for the life of me remember what it is called. It will be a planted tank- he will help me on that front!

but what fish to put in there?

I would like one school, and then either a pair or a single "feature fish". could I fit a bottom feeder in Cories? shrimps? or I hve always fancied yo yo loaches?

I have had problems with my Ph in the past. it can drop or increase (out of the tap) so water changed can be a bit of a chemistry lesson.

so any suggestions?
thanks

hi,try 4-5 cories,5 ember tetras and a nice betta or angelfish.

or...

4-5 cories,5-6 tiger barbs and a angelfish

dont keep tigerbarbs with guppies or bettas.
and dont keep angelfish with bettas or guppies.
angelfish anf tiger barbs are fin nippers.

ALSO DONT KEEP TIGER BARBS WITH ANGELS AS ANGELS HAVE LONG FINS, TOO TASTY FOR THE TIGER BARBS TO RESIST!!! LOL

Hello, thanks for the replies!

Can I keep an angelfish in a 35G? its three foot long btw, i thought they got big? do like them tho

also would Rams go with Tiger barbs or would the tiger barbs nip? have had them before and they basically chased each other to death from what I remember!

Ive had guppies and ended up badly over stocked, the do like to breed! ALOT.

what about Kribs? I like them, and thought they and rams stayed pretty small?

are there any Tetras I should avoid?

thanks again

i would say
2 angels
2 rams
6 (tetra(not too small that the angels can eat them))

in my jewel 120 i have
3 angels
2 bala sharks
3 F bettas
4 albino cories
2 guppies

I am upgrading to a 72" long tank.
I would not if i dident have the bala sharks

 on the 72" front am very jealous.

I have been reading around, and then thinking.....miracles do happen.

you know there are fish breeds with specific problems, eg neon tetras, dwarf gouramis who have a rep for having particular problems, and in my experience Platies who just die randomly.

Are the fish that have a good rep - i know danios are meant to be good but maybe too fast for a 3ft not enough swimming room? but are there fish that are good, say tolerant of pH changes? or poor ish water quaility cos if the pH goes wacky I leave the tank as it is.

I don't think so but I have to ask!

cheers again

I love my setup for my 30 gallon tank.

But anyway if you want a couple of angels, I'd recommend to add 5 cories (instead of tetras to cover the bottom).

I suggest a school of about 10 small tetras, like neons, black neons, or cardinal tetras. About 6 slightly bigger schooling fish like Rummy Nose Tetras or danios, and either one pearl gourami, or three, depending on your filtration and how often you do water changes and if you really want a bottom feeder, either Kuhlie Loaches, or small cories, like pygmies or Pandas, about 3 or 4. Good luck.

Note: One of the fish I have, the Black Phantom Tetra, those are one of my favorites, because they are fairly active and look nice in a school. Also, they are peaceful and don't harrass other fish. At least mine don't.
