I have a 20 gallon planted tank with 1 male betta, 2 neon dwarf gouramis, 5 cardinal tetras and a sailfin plec.

i like a nice peaceful tank and obviously its quite important because of the betta but he is quite chilled out.

any suggestions???

thanks

Going to have a few problems there.

1) Most people would say dont keep the Betta with other fish, period.

2) 20g is WAY too small for a sailfin pleco.

Id recommend dealing with these before buying more fish :)

The question was more like "what fish can i add?" rather than "can you find things wrong with my existing setup?". Im fully aware of the consequenses of putting a betta in a community tank, which leads back to the question of wanting suggestions for calm fish.

I think you should address the current problem eg. betta and plec, before trying to add more fish.

You have some issues with the current stocking (easily a 12++ inch fish in a 20 gal and the betta with gouramis), so I doubt anyone will come up with anything acceptable to add to it.

I would have to agree that you need to adress your current problem mabey after doing that ( ie moving either the gourami's or betta) and moving pleco. i would suggest mabey a small group of cory's. Corys have been known to be a fish that is closer to compatible than most fish with the betta because they are so calm and bottom dwelling. also they are a great fish, just remember that the corys enjoy to be in a shoal, so 4 to 5 min, and other than that FIX your current situation before you get yourself into a bigger fix, btw im speaking from experience
