I tried this post in the correct area, but no one answerd, so ill try here...

I really like silver dollars, and i know that if i want them, i must have at least 5 as they are schooling fish.

Does it matter if all 5 silver dollars are the same type or different? i would prefer if some were different.

Also, when buying them from the shop, must i buy all 5 at the same time? or can i buy 1 a week, or 2 a week over a few weeks? as putting 5 in the tank at once might be too much.

The tank i will be getting (on friday) is 90+ gal. The fish i already have are 2 Black Ghost Knifes, a Bristlenose, and 2 neon tetras (which will soon become food, i know).....

Thanks

The different types of Silver Dollar, E.G. - Black Bars, Red Hooks, Spotted, SHOULD school together.

I personally think if you are going to add them though, add them all together as if your tank is well established and cycled, the new fish shouldn't put too much extra load on the filter so it should cope easily, but monitor the water incase.

Also, when you say 90+ gallon, do you mean you are getting JUST a 90? or going bigger? 120? 180? As you really need something bigger than a 90 for two Black Knifes. The Dollars will appreciate as bigger tank as you can get aswell, giving them more swimming space.
