ok - so i think i've got myself in a bit of a pickle!! again!
So - my betta died at the weekend!
i think it was some sort of fungus so im treating the tank to try to save the other fish! but .... technically the betta was my younger brother's fish so he went out with my parents to buy another fish and came back with a trio of guppies. now this wouldnt normally be a problem but i didnt want to add fish to the betta's tank until the treatment had been completed. I didnt want to put them in the main tank as this has a group of tiger barbs in it! and my only other tank has a CAE in it so isnt really an option! so we put them in a breeding trap in the main tank to see how the tiger barbs would react. They swam around the guppies a bit and then ignored them so after a while we put the guppies in the tank! i watched for a while so i could rescue anyone that the barbs got a bit too interested in and didnt see any problems but that evening we gound the male guppy dead with no tail left! it has to have been the tiger barbs! but now im not sure what to do with the females. i dont want to leave them in there to get mauked ti death but then i cant move them to the betta tank until it's healthy again!!!!
I've been thinking about moving the barbs into their own home anyway! they're not too aggressive but i get the feeling it would be much less stressful for all the other fish if they wernt there! but then again im not sure another tank is really an option!?
arghhhh ... im just not at all sure what to do!? if i were to move the tigers what sort of size tank would i be looking at!? and is there anything that just wont be bothered by them at all!?
any help as to what i can do with the tigers or the guppies would be great!! I'm at an absolute loss!!
