I fed my fish yesterday arround 6pm, then turned the lights off arround 10pm (fish were fine)

Now today, my fish look like there skin is falling off! Fins are rotting away / breaking up or sumthing? Don't look well at all. Only of my platys with black on, i'm sure it has this white spot on it, and some of my tetra on the fins. Very small white, shiney spots... not alot of them though.

I've tryed to take a picture but for the life of me, i've took 100+ and not one of the pictures you would be able to see the problem on

I'm quite sure I have ich (whitespot) so I will go to the pet shop today and buy some.

I have Guppy, Platy and Tetra in the tank.

4 Guppy, 1 looks fine, other 3 have this 'skin falling off / rotting' problem?
2 Platy, both active / not rubing on the gravel but one you can see whitespot (Few very small white shiney spots)
7 Tetra, 3 look to have the white spots on their fins

What is this with the guppys where the skin looks to be falling off / rotting? It looks so bad on one of them, but it's happend over night! How the hell!

Thankyou

P.S - Water tests are fine. Should I raise the temp and hook a seccond air filter up for more oxygen? If so what temp?

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

If the fish look like there been sprinkled it salt its whitespot.
Raise temp to 30 and increase aeration.
Make sure you can use the full dose of med with the fish you keep.

Finrot common on top of whitespot.
Any fluffy cotton wool on the fish.
Any black patches on the fish.

Peeling skin can be bad water quaity, parasites, bacterial, (Columnaris).

I've just been reading on this finrot, and i'm sure the Guppy have it, they have like torn fins, fluffy white stuff, fish looks white/cloudy where the 'rotting' part is?

60Lrt, 0 Ammonia, 7.0pH, 0 Nitrite, 10 Nitrate

Is there a way to cure this that wont effect my other fish? Hopfuly they won't all die from this?

Thankyou Wilder

PS - that water test was today when I noticed somthing wrong with the fish

Bacterial med? I haven't used any med's in the tank yet i'm asking here befor I go get or do what I need to.

Sorry to sound thick and all.

You need to treat fast for whitespot as once it affects the gills it can be a fast killer.

I would try and get these meds from the lfs. Esha exit, esha 2000.
If they don't do those brands you will have to get a waterlife med or interpet med.
But you will only be able to use the whitespot med on it own with waterlife and interpet. As you can't mix bacterial meds with them.

Ah right I see,

So if I go there now, do I need to get Esha exit AND Eash 2000 or just one of them?

And that doesnt cure the Whitespot, I need to get somthing else to cure that... but if I get whitespot treatment and Eash exit, I can use both at the same time with each other?

I just can't use the Waterlive and Interpet with Whitespot treatment at the same time?

Thanks for your help! :)

The esha exit for the whitespot.
Esha 2000 for the finrot and peeling skin. (Bacterial Med)

If you can't get the esha meds you can't mix a bacterial med with the anti whitespot med by interpet.
You can't mix a bacterial med either with the waterlife protozin whitespot med.

Thanks! Sorry i'm abit slow!

Hopfuly they will sell Esha Exit and Esh 2000.... probably not knowing my luck!

I'll go down now and see what they have, fingers crossed.

Thanks for your help, top helper! :) :) :)

Try and get the esha meds over the others.
Not all lfs sell esha meds.
Let us know if you get the meds.
Good Luck.

If you can\'t get the esha meds.
Get anti whitespot med by interpet.
Or protozin by waterlife.

Argh! They didn't have Esha, typical!!

All they had was Waterlife, so I got that... i've just treated the tank 4ml (for 60Ltr), say's I need to do this for 5 days.

I think its 5 days.
Just follow med instructions.
If they get worse get back to the board.
Good Luck.

Thankyou, well they seem more active but still look the same. Probably hasnt even worked yet but still...

Got to have faith, hope they all pull thro this, it's only 1 guppy that is very bad, the other 2 guppys are just loosing abit of there back fin, other guppy and rest of the fish in the tank are fine as far as I can see.

I'll keep you updated :)
