Hi, I am new to this hobby and have just bought a 10 litre tank. What kind of fish is sutiable for this tank and a newbie? And what is the comfortable number of fishes?

Thanks.

dimensions? but if it is 10litres all you could get really is one betta.

:good:

about 30cm(length) by 20cm(height) by 18cm(width).

your limited to one betta, i can't think of anything else that would go in a tank that size. for people who don't use litres it's 2.85 U.S g

:good:

One african dwarf frog (make sure you dont get an african clawed frog... they get VERY large) or a snail... Maybe 4 cherry shrimps but thats only if you go the planted tank route and get your water parameters perfect.

all good idea's, 1 apple snail or ghost shrimp, cherry shrimp, anamo shrimp etc. african dwarf frog is good idea aswel forgot about that.

:good:

yeah shrimp are strongly effected by ammonia nitrite and heavy metals.

snails aren't as badly effected but still it's not good for them.

that's a good idea, what would you do plant it add a snail (any thought's on a type?) and maybe 2/3 shrimp?

:good:

NEVER put chlorine in an aquarium.... thats just asking for things to die. Do a fishless cycle, (there are pinned threads on this forum on them) and wait until all parameters are where theyre supposed to be (i suggest you go out and buy a master test kit.. a good one is made by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, INC. called the freshwater master test kit) ammonia should always be at 0 ppm and there should never be any chlorine in an aquarium. Also, some good beginner plants to start off with are Java Fern, and Java Moss. There are alot of other plants that are easy too, but at the moment i cant think of names...

nitrites should be at 0 all the times aswel, use a dechlorinator when adding tap water to the tank.

you could plants it with abunias (sp.), java moss and java fern like said by unspoken, crypts, hornwort there are quite alot of things you could plant, you will need a light though, for your tank it shouldn't be over 5w as then you will need to add co2, if you don't algae will take over (but you have snails which will eat the algae)

:good:

What is the range of the prices of these test kits?

I haven't thought about what snail to get yet. But I am interested in the armano shrimps (not sure of spelling)
