Slowly making it's way up the glass, it's very thin, doesn't appear to have any shell of sorts, just wondering if it's a baddie:

Could it be a snail that is still developing its shell or the shell is still transparent? I looked it up in google and apparantly there is one kind of shell less fresh water snail out there, but they don't get bigger than 2 mm!

looks more leech like to me rather than snail. If you put your hand near it does it show interest in your hand? Of do you have any snails that you can put near it and see if it shows interest (ie rearing up to sniff around and then heading towards the snail), it could be a snail but usually a snail that has lost its shell is a dead snail.

Might it be one of these? They can grow that big:

I've just googled fresh water aquarium pests, and am thoroughly grossed out, lol! :-( The closest I think to your picture come planaria and seed shrimp?! Maybe you could do a search and see what comes up for you!

If you didnt put it in more than likely its not anything good. I would take it out, I know if I saw that in my aquariums it would be gone in a heartbeat.

yeah got rid of it, no point in chancing.. was just curious if anyone had a specific ID.

cheers
