I have my Rio 400 for peaceful fish.

The eleven gallon for the Betta

What can I keep happily in a 25 gallon tank uk. 21 US gals unsure Any ideas

I have just read this below from another site. Guess i am better than they are No RBS for me lol.

I love Angel Fish, they can get big and add a lot of charater. Kissing gouramis are neat to watch as they actually kiss. They are semi agressive but I've only had them kill each other. There are a few different gouramis that are worth a look for color.
Get a Corey Cat and a Plecostamus for your bottom dwellers and maybe a red tail shark on the bottom.
An upside down cat or a black knife are very cool but they tend to hide.
These are a few of my favorite non-aggressive fishies

EDIT: Misread, thought the italic bit was your own comment. Heh...

Personally I'd stick with little shoaling tetras/rasboras/barbs etc, and get a pair of small cichlids for character (rams, keyholes, kribs etc).

Okay I am going to look stupid or declare I am in what I am now going to write.

Cichlids are tropical or do they need different water ?

They can be agressive fish and I guess thats why you suggest barbs.

Are they not species fish that need to be with their own type?

What comes from where? Old world, new world etc etc.

They are a bit like marine fish they scare me to death. I kinda look at their bright colours live rock etc etc and think way beyond me.

For the aquarium experts.

Brother in law runs rings round me with his marine set up and those anemones although he too has had varying degree of success.

I just dont seem to be happy anymore. (poor tetraqueen lost without her BALA SHARKS and plec etc.

I lost the last lot and the 400 looks bare with 5 platies yes two babies have survived amazing. 8 Neons as three got stuck behind filter box in the rio 400.

I could move these to the middle tank and get a frontosia or can they live in pairs.

I like angels but scared they get eaten and have holes as I'd die watching that would be ill with worry. So avoid those.

I'd like a nice friendly one fish to look after as I miss my plec as I like them quite big. The little ones move too fast and have not as much character.

However if they get too big I cannot cope either thats why plec went back. I would really like a non agressive playful fish similiar in attitiude to a Betta that grew to about 15cm long by 10cm high.

Does anything like that exisit?

Just a suggestion, Tetra Queen, it may not be your cup of tea, but take a look at the Torpido Barbs. They live in small groups of no fewer than four (I need two more). They are, in my opinion the same shape and characture of a Bala Shark but only half the size and much more colourful.
Their smaller size, again, in my opinion is much more fair on a fish, giving it more space to move

I will look into that and let you know. They do look like they are painted. Will look out maybe at wildwoods at the w/e. If they do not get as big then they maybe better for me. Barbs though are they agressive to each other?

Mine arn't... And all I have read, they are ever so peaceful. They chase each other but I don't see any aggression. And they dont even bother with any other fish.

I think they maybe what I could settle with as they do look so similiar and seem almost same character. Good idea Thanks.

The only trouble is, with them being fairly new to the trade, they are expencive. I think it wa around £20 for my pair. And they were only babies.
They don't seem to have anymore at this time, which is just as well 'cause I've no money either. But when they get some. I'l go deeper into debt.
Let us know if you get some, yeah?

Hey tetraqueen,
I would stick with some shoaling fish....neons, rummynose etc. You could put some cichlids in I think, RAMs or something ?

If 25 Gal is 110 litres, then you can put most fish in it.

Do you want it to be a community tank or a species tank ?

You could have some lovely cichlids in if its a community tank
