So what fish would you guys say I could put into a 70 Litre tank? (which i think is about 15 gallons)..

At the moment, I have the following:

1x Pleco

And 2x Small Fathead Mollys (Young ones)...

The shopkeeper told me I could probably keep about 15 small fish in total in the tank, but i'm wanting to know what other fish I can go for, I wouldn't mind something colourful, and I love the look of the Clown-Loaches, however - after reading up, I would not want to put them into a tank this size as I think they would suffer.

Can anyone help me stock my tank?

I would also like to know about live plants, i've currently been using nothing but fake plants as i'm just getting into the fish-world... but I think i'd maybe like a live one or two in there..

6 nice small shoaling fish would fit nicely...neon or cardinal tetras, harlequin rasboras maybe

a centerpiece fish like a pair of pearl gourami's would be nice along with 5 or 6 corys of your choice?

So something the size of neons would be able to put like 6 of those in? I love neons, are they hard to keep or extremely easy?

Pair of Pearl Gourami's, as i'm new i'm not too clued up.. - I just looked up a piccy, i've seen these before.. they are quite nice indeed.

So to sum up, I could have..

2 Mollys
1 Pleco
6 Tetras

and two Pearl Gourami's ?

If so, that's a really nice selection of fish.. and would make me happy for my first tank!

Why not have 10 Tetras, they would fit in with the pleco (what speices is it), the mollies and two Pearl Gouramis. Dont put them all in at the same time, do it over a period of time say 1-2 months. Add the Gouramis before the Tetras (if you are going for neons).

Well i'm planning on just adding my Pleco and 2 mollys that i have at the moment (i'm literally getting new tank in about 5 minutes time delivered)... so i'll get that sorted, add them.. and wait atleast 5-6 weeks before adding any more... the Pleco, i'm not too sure what species, its a spotted one... brown/black colour... http://www.####.co.uk/Catfish.htm < Looks like the one at the top there.

10 tetras would be nice, could I have 5 neons and 5 others? Would they attack eachother?

Strange, looks like my link was filtered.. he's the one on http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/image.php?image_id=591 I think, i've had him for 6 months and was told he would be fine, that's even in the 30L biorb... he doesnt appear to have grown any further for the last 4 months (he grew a tiny bit but that's about it) so shouldnt be a problem hopefully.

I've just got my new tank! Just going to build the stand as i'm on here, then get the tank out of the box.... then get the gravel cleaned and fill it up!

Only issue I can see is the pleco. Edit: You posted your link while I was typing - Planetcatfish says he gets about 12 inches, which is the site I usually trust with plec species, but I will throw out there that I've seen sizes as high as 28 inches quoted for joselimaianus. Either way, I think he's going to get too big - you'd be better off with a bristlenose or other plec under 6 inches.

Assuming it's not a monster plec and the tank is cycled, filter's good, etc, you should be ok in the long run. I'd wait a while before adding the gouramis and tetras. Neon tetras tend to be a bit sensitive to new tanks from overbreeding, and your full planned stock level would need a well matured tank, as well.

The pleco will grow to about 12 inches so will grow to big for the 70L tank i would try to rehome him ASAP, as the bigger he grows the less likely anyone will want him. Heres the link on him for more info http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/speci...?species_id=177 if you want a pleco then i would go for one alot smaller maybe a Bristlenose.

personally i dont think 70 litres is big enough for a pair of pearl gouramies..they can grow quite big, why not get dwarf/ honey gourami instead?

IMO a pair a pearls would be fine they grow to arround 4 inches plenty of room in a 70L. Dwarf and Honeys are both excellent replacements to have instead of Pearls, what the dimensions of the tank.

Some type of sailfin plec, at any rate. I don't know of any that'll stay small enough. Fish store advice isn't always aimed at the welfare of the fish - sometimes they just try to move them before they eat more than they sell for. I'd rehome him now. Not only will it avoid the headaches that might arise if he grows too big, but it'll reduce your bioload and possibly let you proceed with some of your other plans.

actually looking at him that looks just like him (the L147) ... just building stand :D
