I have been looking for fish to add color/centerpiece to my 75 gal. tank. I was admiring a gorgeous larger red severum. Well I passed on the severum, had he been smaller to start, maybe. But looking at his mouth and teeth I was sure my danios may become treats for him to eat. I have been looking at angels and have yet to find a store without most of them dead in the tanks. I am starting to think they are all getting them from the same wholesaler. Bad Bad. Discus I fear as I have read about daily water changes...eeks. I do once per week about 25% now. I ended up getting 3 tinfoil barbs today. I knew they got big but I now see up to 10" Luckily I have a larger tank. So now I have:
8 purple danios (one is an imposter zebra)
1 opaline gourami
3 tinfoil barbs
1 polka pictus

As you can see basically everything is silver in color. Any ideas what fish I may add for more color ? BTW my opaline is a bit territorial and aggressive. She chased the barbs around for a few hours. She simply can't get near them as they are too fast. Seems to have chilled out now. With this in mind I am cautious as to other gourmais ? Can I pretty much add any other barbs ? Any chiclids possible ? What would you do

im a pretty big fan of the gourami clan.. especially the colorful ones like the male dwarf, powder blue (M or F), flame gourami.. not sure what sex your opaline is but if you are going to add any make sure its 1 male to 2 females and your tank should be fine

oh yes and i forgot.. i love balloon mollies! check out my sig and avatar.. those are my three and from the top view they dont look too round but they are chubby and fun to watch wiggle around

have fun looking!

You could always try some livebearers? You could just get some males if ya don't want a tank full of fry :p heh We have 2 male platies in our bigger tank and they're the first ones I notice b/c of their vibrant colors.
Rams are really nice as well.
Our Blue Ram wasn't as vibrant in color as I've seen some, but he was still a really pretty fishy.
Our bolivian isn't as colorful but he's still quite a nice looking fish.
Or you could try a school of harlequin rasboras. They're very peaceful and have such a pretty red color to them.
Or maybe cherry barbs? I've never had them, but they're pretty in the store :p heh
OO or glolight? danios. They're the ones that are genetically altered to have those funky neon colors.

Oh I just saw a pretty fish on a website called a Dwarf Flag Cichlid... very pretty.

Keep us updated on what you decide to get... with pics! lol

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will check them out !

My tank is covered. It is a glass cover. There is a small open strip across the back. Suppose they would really need to try some gymnastics to make it out of that small space sucessfully..LOL !

Anyone know how fast the tinfoils grow ? And is it really 10" ? I was thinking more like 6" max. I seen 8" on one site and 10" on another and it is "up to" so I am hoping not too big.

they will take 6-months to a year to get to like 6 or 7 inches but after that the growth rate is very unnoticable, but i saw one in a shop once and it must of been a foot at least.

Australian/Papua New Guinea Rainbows for me
Would look stunning in a good sized shoal.

dont buy mollies they are suseptable 2 decices and are a pain i think u should get platies they come in millions of colors and are very peacefull

id go with the rainbows they are so colourful and active they would make a great addition
bosemani are nice

Angelfish wouldn't be bad, thought the tinfoils may bother them a bit. Dwarf snakeheads are nice, though they may eat your other fish. Blood parrot cichlids aren't too bad, Rosy barbs, Red glass barbs, Serpea Tetras, another thing, if you can find them on the market (which is hard because last I heard their enviorment was threatend) are galaxy rasboras, also known as Celestial peral danios. Oh, another thing could be green tiger barbs.
