I need heads up on what filter to pick its between tetra 1200 plus and fluval 406 i heard both of them are amazing but just need to decide which one and also i got 4 oscars about 5/6inches long
fluval has more flow rate by 250 then tetra so both filters have the same flow rates just abit and just looked both of them have 4 each sets of media and my tank is 350lfluttermoth said:Whichever one holds the most media. Oscars are messy fish, so you need to house a lot of bacteria to cope (along with the big water changes, of course!), whereas they don't need a lot of flow, so LPH isn't so important.
What size is your tank?
Nah i havent looked at jbl but i will do, so you do have jbl and you dont have any negative points about it?Akasha72 said:I throw a spanner in the works so to speak ... have you looked at the JBL crystalprofi? I have them on my 4ft tank and I wouldn't buy another brand now
Thank you for the time writing this for me I am pretty sure i will look into the jbl filter it seems like the filter is great overall once again thank youAkasha72 said:the only negative I have found is they can easily get an air lock and be hard to get started after you've cleaned the pipes but that can happen with any filter. I'm running two e901's on my 4ft tank. Even though one is technicly big enough for this tank size I did find that I was getting a greasy film on the surface in the opposite corner from the outlet. 4ft is a long way for water to go and that side wasn't getting turned over enough. I could have cured the problem with a protein skimmer or a small internal but I decided to run two externals instead. It gives me the opportunity to never worry about over cleaning the filter as I alternate maintenance.
The pro's of the JBL against other filters of similar design ... well you get a 4 year guarentee for a start. There's no fiddly rubber seal on these filters and the e901 only uses 13 watts of power so it's super efficient. The build quality is excellant with four trays of media (ceramic and sponge) and there's no chance of a mistake and flooding your home due to the way they've designed the stop taps.
If you type in JBL external filter to google there is a video online showing you all you would need to know![]()
I have eheim now and i personally dont like it how it performs sometimes in my tankFar_King said:Have you considered an Eheim?
