What does "pearling" mean?

Thanks - you just helped me out! I knew there was a word for little bubbles of gas on the leaves of aquatic plants but I couldn't remember it. Yes, pearling. It means the plants are turning CO2 into oxygen at a very rapid rate and therefore growing as you look at them. I just called it bubbles. Either way, its a great thing to see.

Yep, Alien Anna is right, plants are making O2, but at the point where it oversaturates the water because of:

A) Photosynthesis is effecient(due to high tech equipments though you can get pearlings with a low tech tank...I do)

B) You have so many plants.

Thats all I can think of that can cause those bubbles. Also, if you plant lightly, don't be discouraged if you don't see pearlings, the plant might be producing O2 but it might be not enough because of the fishload.
