 Me and my boyfriend have had our fish tank for over a week and unfortunately now doing a cycle with fish ( ) We're doing our best thanks to TFF to make sure we keep all the fish we have - but that's another topic entirely.

The reason for my question is my LFS sell a selection of different aquarium potions, but mainly recommends the 'sera' range. I was just wondering if anyone had any previous experience with this brand and whether there are better products to use. After reading the various different forums, I know we dn't need half the crap we've bught, but for future information, it wuld be great to get an opinion.

Also, does anyone recommend an excellent dechlorinator available in the UK (preferably online) that deals with the chlorine and chloramine?

N.B - We've only used bottled water as far so the dechlorinator is for the water changes.

Ta.

You used all bottled water to fill your tank? Sod that, get yourself some dechlorinator! I think the most recommended one would be Seachems Prime :).

Excellent, I will certainly get myself some of that.
Yeah I know the bottled water was a bit excessive, but we wanted to give the tank the best possible start we could.
In terms of sera.... what ya think?

Lol, well if you've got the cash to splash im sure the fish would love a bit of warm evian :p haha but generally avoided as it really is just an unnecisary cost :) Ive personly not heard of sera but the general rule is, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is :) sorry! Everyone learns, including me recently :p

don't really have the cash, but didn't even know about the dechlorinator... or chloramine to be perfectly honest. Will get some asap. Thanks

Thas cool :) was a good move if your unsure! and finally, what exactly is this Sera product ment to do? I should of really asked before dismissing it ;)

The main one is called "Nitrivic" (ingredients: "nitrosmonas/ nitrbacter 16/10 bacteria cells/ml, aqua puricator")
It states that with the inclusion of this product you can add fish after 24 hours. Add daily for 10 days. I think its "meant to" speed up the cycle by "breaking down the ammonium and nitrite"

Ahhh sounds ALOT like the bio-spira product I made a thread about here :) is it kept in the fridge? If it is then it very possibly could be a good product :p

Could be, worth a go for sure :) Ive heard quite a few possitive responses to Bio-spira, so if this product is indeed similar then it cant hurt to try :)...Best of luck and keep us posted!
