yup, the severum's get pretty big, without them and the plec you'd be fine :)

cant get rid of the severums i bought them for me n my gf =)

then you might find you need to get them a different tank or get rid of some other fish, they can get to 12" and aren't really suitable companions for the rest of your fish :/

what do you mean?

if you keep the sev's i think your gonna need to re-home the following

6x black phantom tetras
2x odessa barbs - possibly
4x tiger barbs - possibly
2x gold rams male /female
2x khuli loaches
6x white clouds

severums are not really community fish, you should keep them with other medium-large new world cichlids.

:/

miss wiggle...thanx for your opinion but this setup has been up and running for already 2 years... and my severums are already big
i dont understand why i would try to fix something that isnt broke?

wouldnt other fish in the tank be a community?

and why would i have to get rid of the khulis?

they dont hide they come out they love the tank

and the rams? whats your explanation for that...

dont just name fish actually give me a reason...

and umm miss...arent my rams new world cichlids?

you just asked for opinions, i'm giving mine, you've not posted before if the tank is set up, or this is a proposed stockign list or why your asking, so i just look at is as proposed and say if i think it's a good idea.

there's no rule book to fishkeeping and there are exceptions, if your sev's do fine with your community then that's great. you get exceptions to every rule. but be prepared as risky set up's always have a chance of going wrong even if it's been fine for years.

i don't know what you mean by your last question?

i see wat u meant by medium-large...thanx for your advice

i hope you didnt take this thread the wrong way....it may look as if im panicing..?

The sevs are large chiclids. and produce a fair old bit of waste. and poloute the water alot.
the adverage rule is 1 inch of fish per U.S gallon
this goes up the larger the fish, one 12 inch oscar is going to produce alot more waste than 12 1 inch tetras. so you need to account for this in your stocking.

what are the exact tank dimensions?

6x black phantom tetras = 1.75 inches each so 10.5 inches total
2x odessa barbs = 2.5 inches each so 5 inches total
4x tiger barbs = 3 inches each so 12 inches total
2x gold rams male /female at 3 inches = 6 inches total
2x khuli loaches = 3 inches each so 6 inches in total
1x rtbs = 6 inches
1x leapord high-fin pleco Well over 14 icnhes in some cases
2x green severums i think 1 is male other is female 10 inches so 20 inches just there
1x cobalt blue dwarf gourami 1.5 inches
6x white clouds 6 inches total

so in total you have 70 plush inches of fish in your tank not including the plec nor taking into account territorial needs or water poloution from this high stocking

With the Sevs in there its only a matter of time your gonna have to fix the thing that is 'broken'. Other than that nice set up. I think the pleco will be fine in a 55 gallon tank. May be wrong.

Id be looking for another tank for the little fish and leaving the Sevs and Plec in the big tank, before the Sev deems the rest of the fish either food or a nuisance.

ya i got a 29 gallon with nothing in it...i was gunna make my 15 the 29 for my 2 newts but nahhh to many plugs

by the time the severums get really big thats when all the little fish will be dead
same with the pleco n rtbs

so ill be alright

with the other tank i wanna get a some scorpions
