Hey peeps,

Just wondering what peoples experience is when their fish get too large to keep in their tank. I have had my larger Plec for 2 yrs now, I got him when he was tiny, and was told he wont get too large......but he keeps growing....I would absolutely hate to part with him, but guess there is no option /IF / When he gets too big..

Has anybody else had fish get too big, or do they drow to the size of your tank....alot of people say different things about this.

"Growing to the size of their tank" is a myth to a certain degree. Basically what happens in many cases is the fish's growth is stunted which can cause internal problems with malformed organs etc.

Really your options are going to be re-home him or get a bigger tank. Your LFS might take him in and give you some store credit if you're lucky though.

How large is your tank? I've never kept plecs but I understand many will grow to a good 12" or more and need a big tank.

Yes, I had 2 goldfish and when they got big for the tank, I gave them away.
