What Do You Buy?

Do you buy gravel/sand made for aquariums or other stuff? I buy things for construction. I recently got some gorgeous (though too large) gravel for my 55 and ten gallon, it's wonderful, and 100 pounds only cost me $8.00/£4.00. Seems like the aquarium made gravel costs a lot more? The only difference I can see is you can't get neon pink and you have to give it a few good washes.

I bought playsand from Lowe's for my 46g. I have regular aquarium gravel in my 28g and my 55g has crushed coral sand as it came with the tank. The rocks that I get to go in it will most likely come from a landsape supplier or rock supplier of some sort. I don't really want to pay the $2 a pound my LFS charges.
