Hello folks,
I'm a newbie so bear with me..
My 3 year old son has been given a five foot tank and set up and has subsequently "snaffled" my community fish from my own tank. I'm left with one occupant a 20cm Pleco. The tank is 3 foot long, with airstone and fluval filter. I would like to put something a little different but fairly easy to maintain, was wondering about oscars or similar. Any recommendations please?
thanks for your help

I would move the plec to the 5ft tank (assuming hes a common or gibby as they're very large growing). An oscar needs 75g+ if kept as a single specimen, so your tank would be better suited to dwarf cichlids if that's your kind of thing? A pair of rams or similar? :)

Thanks for replying - much appreciated. I can't really move the plec to the five foot tanks as there are three in there already! I like the idea of a pair of rams - I've always thought that they were nice fish, I'll look into this as well as dwarf cichlids. This is my very first post so I will take the time to trawl through the other forums to get more info.

No probs - you'll soon be as addicted as the rest of us *lol*.

Let us know how you get on won't you? I bought two bolivian rams the other day and they're lovely. Apistogrammas might be worth looking at too?

A gentle word of warning though, if those plecs are commons they'll grow fairly massive (up to 2ft+) - they'll be okay for now, but just wanted to help because the thing about fish shops is they never tell you that, and when they grow it's hard to rehome them.

Let us know what you pick won't you? :D
