I've seen in a few posts how people have commented on others gravel choise And usually I agree whole heartedly. But I reserve my opinion seeing as the thread isn't about gravel to begin with.
So, I thought I'd ask...

Whats gravel do you prefare in regards to colour and size?
Deviate if you like and tell of your distaste for gravel, you prefare something else.

Also, what is your least favourite colour for gravel?

Well Does it colour co-ordinate with your fish?

Does it help the fish feel like its in it's natural habitat.

I am thinking of a Betta for the bedroom so I have chosen a lilac and green to go with my lavender walls of the bedroom and will be looking for a halfmoon to go with this.

my big tank has fairly large gravel as it was the cheaper option.

My small tank has green and blue as that fitted in with the living room carpet then.

There are all sorts of reasons gravel is different but hope the above explains.

Also if your having Marine you may want sand for the corals etc where as a lot of plants soil etc.

Others will also have their personal choice.

Bright Pink gravel would look lovely with a yellow Betta but to me to Goddy. Sorry each to their own but Hey ! the choice is endless.

Have I sold a dead horse yet ???

See, not one person would be wrong in their choise. Because it is THEIR choise. I personaly would never have a fake colour in my tank. I prefare natural because the fish are the beauty in there. They carry the colours.
But Like TetraQueen said about all those colours to match her rooms. Well, why not.

Im with you guys, natural look all the way.
Each to their own but colored gravel/decorations (really any "ornaments" colored or not) drive me nuts.
Not to mention cheesy backgrounds and the little treasure box decor, but thats for another thread :p
I think sand looks great but I find it to be a lot of work (at least for people who have a lot of tanks) to keep it clean.

Natural "brown" gravel with different sizes mixed in is the way to go if you ask me :)

I just think natural for a Betta? mud puddles ? sand?

However a Plec sitting on a small grave bed nope.

I think it depends on the fish and also I do not have gravel that you see from looking at the tank .

It colours the water.

I could never see the point of ornaments except to hide in but I have ruined to pastic plants recenty with methyine blue. Oh what a shame I am pleased to

see them go they looked awful.

i like natural too and fine gravel or sand. don't like bright or dark colours but then my daughter thinks her pink gravel for her goldfish is the bee's knee's lol.

I like the natural gravel with mixed sizes best but i hate the multi coloured one with pink, blue, white, yellow and so on , I think it makes every tank ugly.

'Natural' coloured gravel is described that way for a reason; anything else is unnatural.

i like dark or black sand or black gravel, seems to bring out the colours of my fish :)

Dont like white gravel or white sand at all, but hey everyone their own :)

i have dorset pea shingle 3 and 6 mm with a plant substrate under it only thing i dont like about is the amout of "free" snails that come with it but the loaches soon took care of that problem
