hi...ive had my tank up and running fine for about 2 months now...i cycled my tank with 3 guppies and then added multiple fish later on...what causes the fish to just lay on the bottom of the water for a few days and then just all of a sudden die? also in guppy fry why does sometimes they dont have side fins and start going tail up until they die?

I think you need to test your water, it sounds like there may be some problems with it if you have fish laying on the bottom and dying.

Usually bacterial infections when they lay to one side at the bottom of the tank, can you post stats, also what do you feed your fish, check the fish to see what it looks like when they go to the toilet.

what doyou mean by stats?

i feed them flakes, veggies, and freeze dried brine shrimp

i dont have a water test kit

Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you, i would recommend a water change till you know your water stats.
You need some frozen foods in there diet, i would feed some shelled peas to the fish.
Once a fish lays to one side at the bottom of the tank they are dying and usually beyond help, if you lost a few to this in the last couple of days i would add a bacterial med to the tank.

Frozen peas cooked in boiling water for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers and add to the tank.

thats cool...i did that with lima beans and they all seem to love it...even the cories try to get some but they cant chew it =)
