Ok peeps this is what I have:

I have a 45 gallon tank with the following in:
1x apistograma cactuides
1x geophegus brackensis
2x Nichols Mouthbreeder 1 male 1 female
1 Ancistros Pleco (i think)
1x Bristlenose
2x Kribensis

I also have two silver dollars that are going back to the LFS because they are now Huge unless anyone on here wants them.

The tank is very well planted with both surface and low level plants and has a lot of hiding places. I know this is a usual question for me to ask But i have now been to the 6 closest LFS's And all of them do not seem to know what they are talking about.

OK,

Since we now know the "brackensis is actually brasiliensis, could the Nichols possibly be Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi?

The cacatoides and kribs could have territorial disputes come breeding time.
I would also consider adding a few more cacatoides (M/F) to equel out the groupings.

I have heard conflicting reports that the nicholsi (if this is what you have) could be aggressive as well during spawning.

The two plecs should be fine as long as ample caves/hiding spots are provided

Now for the brasiliensis....A beautiful fish, but

This fish will grow a little to large for the rest of your tankmates, I'm sorry to say.

At this point I would consider giving up the brasiliensis and then maybe you could add a few more fish.

HTH...

the nichols _ thats the one

But that isnt the brisilensis i have.... LFS Telling me wrongly again

Very confusing I was told that it wont get much bigger its about 3inches at the moment it is a pale colour with a dark black spot in the centre suposubdly similar to the jumbala ( wrong spelling) with siler spots on its face

oh and the Nicholsi was brought with a female and the male is quite dominent but doesnt do any harm to the fish as they have loads of space to swim away and loads of hiding places. It was recomended as quite a placid fish by my LFS (which i wont be using again) But it i have since heard conflicting stories as well. I had 1 male and three female cocatoo's but the male killed all three. The male seems fine on his own though.

You may have a juvie or young adult...

This is a young adult specimen....

If this is what yours looks like, when adult it will look like the one above. They attain an adult size of 6-8"

Okay,
I checked the pic that was posted on your thread asking for help in finding the right name.

That is indeed a brasiliensis, but a color varient. Probably came from a different location in the lake.

Either way the brasiliensis will attain a large size!!
