I've just had an ich outbreak which I'm sure I have cleared, I now wish to sterilise my scissors, forceps, gravel cleaner, I googled, and it said to use unperfumed thin bleach, well I've been to two supermarkets and every bleach on sale was thick and perfumed, what ones do you use in the UK.

I make my own bleach with swimming pool HTH Extra Super Chlorine Shock 75%

That gives approximately 25 at 5% gallons for around 36$ When I bought it... now its 80$ But at 7$ each gallons it's still half the price.

And it take a lot less space to stock for years.

For what you mentioned I just use thick bleach. Aldi brand and according to the label it has citrus. I make sure everything is properly rinsed and air dry - typically for at least a week. I do use thin bleach for nets, water storage containers and plant dipping but thats from Amazon and significantly more expensive.

If you're interested with concentrated chlorine, if you get the 75% it's 200 grams per gallons, with the 65% it's 240 grams per gallons.

It gives 4.5x% clean bleach. Once mixed there's no difference.

I started doing this when a gallon of bleach was 49¢, and never came back.

I forgot to mention that baby bottle sterilising solution is just plain bleach. Of course it costs more but is readily available everywhere. Milton or some cheaper brand.
