I have a 60ish litre tank and my ph is high, around 8.
It has been set up for over a year but never had anything interseting in it.
I need to know what fish i can put in that can cope with my high ph but not malawis because the tank isnt big enough.
Help me please
thanks

So far i tried black neons but that didnt go down well as the needed softer water so they died off.
I dont want to keep any livebearers, i want something different.
If there is anything :unsure:

umm, what about a schooling fish, have no idea, maybe neons, but i don't think you would be too keen on that

What are the exact measurements/dimensions of the tank? In a small tank such as yours, every litre/gallon counts a great deal when it comes to fish stocking, the actual dimensions of the tank are also important when deciding what fish are suitable for your tank too. As it stands, 60litres is about 15 US gallons.

When I entered those dimensions into an aquarium converter, I got 48L and 12.63 US gallons. I was going to suggest looking into the Tanganyikan shelldwellers, but I know most of them need a 20g for a colony. It's worth checking out, and they would appreciate the higher pH/harder water.

oh right yeah
i forgot about when i mesured the volume, i am used to saying it is a 60 because i was told it was,
i checked last week
so shell dwellers
can anyone give me some info on them
and maybe some other fish suggestions please

the dimentions are
Across-61cm
Wide-30cm
High-26cm

I'm afraid to say that i think the tank is smaller than 60litres, according to practicalfishkeeping.co.uk it works out at about;

Dimensions 61 x 30 x 26cm/24" x 12" x 10
Surface area 0.18 sqm/1.94 sq ft/ inches sq in
Volume 48 l./11 gal. (12.68 US gal.)
Probable volume 43 l./10 gal. (11 US gal.)

None the less is a good size for a small tank, there's still loads you can keep in there, even if you don't want to change the ph. Cherry barbs are quite hardy adaptive little fish and i am sure they'd be fine in a ph of 8 if you acclimatised them carefully to the tank;

Or if you wanted something more unusual, how about some Dwarf Neon Rainbow fish;

There are still some types of cichlids which are small enough to happily live in a tank of your size and would thrive in your PH, such as the shell dwelling Gold ocellatus;

And "Lamprologus" multifasciatus;

There are also some really beautiful labyrinth fish like dwarf gourami's;

And of course betta's;

Etc... :thumbs:

i think i am going to do my research into shell dwellers and get maybe 4-5 of the same speices and nothing else to go in my tank

hmmm yeah... i do like the look of them and see them at my lfs quite often
i will do some reaserch on them too and see which i preffer
