Hi, i have a gang of white clouds (mostly females but two males i think) and as these things are pretty prolific breeders the females look constantly gravid.Anyway, i bought some plastic (i know..no lighting) plants for the tank yesterday and put them in, now one female constantly hangs around them chasing off any others that come close. With most fish this would indicate territorial or breeding behaviour from the fish, and i know WCMM's scatter eggs in plants, is it possible this female is protecting her eggs? I've never read anything that says WCMM's do this.Or even care for their eggs.

I've never heard of them protecting their eggs either, sounds to me like she's just staked out a territory and is defending it.

I have never kept these fish but with tetras even though they are shoaling fish will often all find their own little spots which they will defend from other fish. They will then only shoal if they feel threatend or when feeding. Not sure WCMM act the same but I think they probably do.
