so, we have really hard water.... lots of calcium and iron... my hard water fill lines to my tanks are white tube, which is staining brown.... the house fixtures get "rust" staining, if the softener is not working... yesterday I did 1/3 water changes in my newer converted hard water sailing molly breeding tanks, and afterwards I could see the haze in the water... I was planning on using straight well water for my bigger live bearer tanks, but am questioning if that will be conductive as functional hard water aquarium water... will see if the sail fin mollies like it 1st... So far, I've done 4 - 1/3 well water, water changes, so it's not straight well water... in my neo shrimp tanks, I use RO water , and with all the plants growing out of those open tanks, I do top offs with the well water, and that has been working great for the shrimp ( guessing a blend of 3/4 RO, and 1/4 hard well water... if I end up having to do this for the molly tanks, it will require another hook up to my RO distribution manifold... not impossible, just another challenge to overcome, as these tanks are in a completely different area of the house with no plumbing any where near... anyone else dealing with water this hard ???

it does settle out the next day, but results in a build up on all surfaces

BTW... the tetras are part of the back ground... I'm not a fan of fish printed on the back grounds, but???

My well water is soft and very acidic. pH is 5.0. So we pass the water through a calcium carbonate treatment which increases the hardness to around 200 ppm with a neutral pH. However there is calcium carbonate residue everywhere. Clogs up all the faucets.
