I'm not sure if it is plant debris or what, but the water in my tank has been getting cloudier over time since I put my live plants in. There seems to be dot sized debris floating around, enough of it that it gives the water a cloudy appearance from up close. I recently lost my albino cory cat and 1 bronze cory and I suspect maybe the cloudiness of the water may have led to their sudden deaths. Maybe the debris is so much that it gets in their gills or something? I've tried using one of those clear water solutions and so far after 2 days it hans't worked. Is this type of cloudy water common in a planted tank? Can anything be done about it? Is it harmful to the fish?

Plants do not normally make water cloudy. If the small debris floating around your tank is coming from the plants, then their is something wrong. What kind of plants have you got, and some info about your tank, particulaly your light level.

It is often the case that when plants are first moved to a new location, they'll take a while to adjust, but that usually means shedding whole leaves. Plant debris is usually eaten by fish and unless it is lying around rotting, is normally harmless.

Did you stir up the substrate a lot when you planted? Do you regulaly vacuum your substrate?
