when your doing water changes where do you add the de chlorinator straight to the water your putting in or in to the tank its self

just bought the tank of my uncle and its 17inches square what size is this in gallons or litres cheers

I add the de chlorinator into the water im adding due to adding new water into the tank without doing that will cause the fish to be exposed to chlorine for a small time.

Dump de-chlor in the tank, hook the hose up to the cold water tap, and fill away.

There is a growing school of thought that de-chlor isn't actually necessary, and some ad-hoc experiments carried out by members of another forum show that de-chlor is completely unnecessary. Even in water supplies with chloramines.

I just haven't got the bravery to try it on my fish just yet...
