Looking at my post count, you probably think I should know better, but it really doesn't mean anything, I know the basics and stuff, anyway. I have an EXTREMELY overfiltered 3Gallon with a heater, sand substrate and airstone that is heavily planted. I also have an extremely overstocked 20Gallon, and I was wondering if there is any chance I could put some of my fish into my 3Gallon?

6x Black Widdow Tetra
6x Neon Tetra
5x Angel Fish (I know not but thought i'd list them anyway)
1x Krib
3x Bristlenose Pleco (2 are babys)
2x Pitbull Pleco
2x Mollies
11x Guppy fry just a little smaller than neons
3x Molly fry (These won't really make a difference to the bio-load so i'd rather keep them in the 20G
4x Leopard Danios

I know it's overstocked, it's also well filtered and cleaned out. But one thing i'd like to point out, atleast i'm not actually stunting the growth of any of these fish. I would not recommend anyone to overstock but I had no choice, my mam was quite stubborn and had to buy the fish, and won't lemme take them to the LFS, she says "Leave them they will be ok.", please DO NOT flame at me for this, as yes some of it is my fault, but I do take care of my fish. Anyway, please could you suggest any of my fish that can go into my 3Gallon?

i used to keep triops before i was allowed an aquarium they where so small the day they were born and by the time they died they where unreal :hyper:
pretty cool though i would suggest keeping them 8)
:good:

They are amazing, aren't they. They look so prehistoric, and they are big. The biggest are 11 cm long. Ours got to about 5 cm long, but they were still pretty weird.

Easy to keep, too.

Cheers,

Neale

only the fry can really go in that tank and did you guys suggesting more fish read what he sed at all?

Neal, try showing your mum this place and myabe shell come around or even better if she wants to keep the fish, try for a bigger tank!

Also, exceptionally cheap. A packet of eggs wont cost you the world.

People, Neal is not looking for suggestions of what fish to put in his 3 gallon because it is empty, he is looking to offload some fish from his overstocked 20 gallon into it. Read the whole post next time
And I agree with SamUK, only the fry would be ok in there (for the time being).

Hmm, ok. Thanks for all your advice guys, i'll move the fry, and would I be able to move one of the baby bristlenoses over too? As that tank does get alot of algae. I'll just have to keep up with water changes and vacs in my 20G to ensure everyone is ok.

Neal, first of all- don't apologise for being honest about what is in your tank! It is so much better than trying to touch up the truth like some posters do.

Secondly, I appreciate that this situation is not your fault and that you are doing everything you can with filtration and water changes. But really, you have got to make it clear to your mum that this 20 gallon is overstocked even with the best filtration in the world. It is not just about water quality, it is also about swimming space. The angels in particular are going to need a higher tank to grow up in, and when all those fish are mature, they will be packed like sardines. Fish need space to display natural behaviour. It can be very hard to teach your parents anything (I'm a parent myself, so I know!)- but maybe you could send her here and we could do a bit of explaining.

The 3 gallon will do as a grow-out tank for the guppies for the first few months, but not of course forever. Eventually they will need more swimming space, and unless you want them to reproduce ad infinitum you will need to separate the sexes.

The guppys are the size of neons though, and there is 11 of them. I think i'm going to put the 3 mollie babys in and my smallest bristlenose plec, he's small so no worry about him polluting the tank too much. I also have a nice cave in there for him.
