Hi All
I have two ammonia test kits, one which I purchased when I brought my tank and another in hagen my master test kit.
One of them is wrong however. I have tested the ammonia in my tank (doing a fishless cycle) one gives me a result of 4ppm and the .5ppm.
What is the most reliable way to verify the test kits and find out which one is right
Not sure if it makes a difference, but I have just done a 50% water change with treated water, I did add 3ml of ammonia after the change, which should of in theory brought the level up to 4ppm.
I think the issue maybe the water treatment, 'Tap Safe'. Perhaps it was still present in the tank and has neutralised the ammonia I had or converted this to ammonium, which one test is still showing while the other isnt? Just an idea and I am not sure how likely it is, the 'Tap Safe' packaging doesnt mention any Ammonia busting properties. I would like to verify the test kits to see if this is the case though.
Any advice appreciated
Thanks
Aaron
