I have the EHEIM vacuum and love it. So easy, I don't mind a quick vacuum every couple days.

Pertaining to vacuuming -  Do you remove all your decorations?   Or can you sufficiently vacuum up the "matter" without stripping the tank first?    I guess I'm paranoid about Ammonia build up if I don't take everything out, YET the fish get stressed, understandably, when I remove everything.

Not usually! I gravel vac around things but once a while, usually when I want to change things up a bit, do I remove decor and do a good cleaning where they were! :)

If you have a cycled tank you don't have to worry about ammonia build up, since the bacteria would "eat" it up and convert it. The Nitrate may build up, but if you have lots of plants they will use that as food! :)

I vacuum weekly without removing them and once every month or two ill take them out when i do. The times when i do take them out quite a bit of crap will come up the vacuum where the decorations were but i havent had a problem with nitrates

Well it depends on how much and what type of decor you have.
I never take anything out but I don't have big massive things covering the substrate.

If you vaccuum, don't do the tank at once, do 1/3rd or 1/4rd each time and just lift up the decor in this area. There's is bacteria growing on and in the substrate as well, so don't overdo it.
