Parents sprung a surprise vacation on me and my sisters! it will be 13 days long!!!

what do i do?

Is there any electronic feeders that I can dump atleast 5 days worth of food into? I am alright with fasting them for 7-8 days but 13 is alittle much..

i would imagine that they will be fine without being fed for 13 days. It takes a long time to starve a fish to death. i don't trust automatic feeders, myself, and if you feed them there will be food and fish waste, which is exactly what you don't want when you won't be able to change the water. And water quality's more important.

well as for wastes.. my plants take care of all nitrAtes.

I have goldfish and tropicals.

The safest way is if you could get a friend to pop round every three days or so (not as often as every day, as they presumably won't be doing water changes). But don't give them the food jar: measure out portions (no more than normal feed size) and hide all the other food! I use a compartmented pillbox I got from the pharmacy, the sort of thing that is intended for elderly people to remember their medicines.

If you do go for an electronic one- don't buy the cheapest (I had a disaster!) and test it well in advance to make sure that it doesn't clog up and it does not dispense larger portions than you want- you need one where you can measure out the portions in different compartments.

It depends on what fish you have, but I certainly would not leave small livebearers for instance without food for 13 days, their metabolism is too fast for that.
