Hello,

I currently have a 33g tank. Im going to buy 90g soon. i was wondering if when i get my new 90g should i use the water from my 33g to help out with the water cycleing and im not really sure what to do with my fish when i do this ether because i was going to put them in buckets well i set up the tank but 1. I need to cycle 2. i can't really keep them in the 33g tank well i start my 90 cause the only place i can put the 90g is where my 33 is right now -_- soooo..im stumped because not only do i not wanna put them in before the cycle is over but i think if i do it will be way to much of a shock and it might do some damage :(

what are your guys's suggestions? do you think it will be okay to put them in if i put the 33g water in???

please reply

yes they should be fine I do it all the time I also use a little bit of the gravel from some of my tank as well

Adding water from a mature tank won't help the cycle establish. The bacteria you want live on the surfaces of filter material, decorations, substrate, etc, not in the water column.

As luxum said ...using old water won't really help cycle your new tank...benefical bacteria stays on the gravel/sides/decorations/filter......just make sure you test the new water accordingly and use the gravel/filter etc..from your 33.You might have to do frequent water changes until your new tank settles.
